ARTESIUM
/
Artesium is an alias of Paul Sanbrook, a Sydney based Drum & Bass producer and bass player making his recording debut in 2020.
Originally from Perth, Western Australia, Sanbrook carved out a touring career with Cult Australian three-piece Storytime who earned their status captivating a generation with dark, multi-dimensional instrumentals, embraced by the surf community on a global scale and featuring on more surf movies than any other band on the planet.
Shifting focus to electronic music, Sanbrook is a self-taught producer drawn to the high energy, heavy bass genre of Drum & Bass. Following a connection with El Hornet (Paul Harding) from Pendulum who were regular attendees at Storytime gigs, declaring the band in a recent interview as a being an early influence, this connection and subsequent friendship has been an inspiration.
Signing earlier in the year with Brazilian label DNBB Records, debut single “Mindreader” is set for release in May 2020. Mastered by Andrew Edgson at Studio’s 301 in Sydney the track is a lively accompaniment for festivity, featuring a moreish, energized bass line interwoven with indelible synths and vocal samples.
Future releases include “Alive” featuring vocalist Jasmine Knight, a player in the UK underground DNB scene since her teens and mixed by Dylan Martin (Royalston), a producer and DJ exclusively signed to Med School Music.
Drawing on influences from Netsky, Sub Focus, Wilkinson, ShockOne and Pendulum, Artesium is fast developing his own, unique sound destined to form part of the DNB fabric for many years to come.
